I started listening to “The Power of Now” audio book today. I think I tried listening to it in High School or College and just couldn’t do it. I truly believe we are ready for certain lessons at specific times.
I also tried reading the book at that time and only got about half way through. I so badly wanted to find this “peaceful” feeling that the book promised. My mind was in another place I guess.
This time is different. So much has happened since then and I’ve learned a lot of lessons along the way which have helped me be more “present”. Like working in the corporate world where you can’t make big mistakes and have to be on the ball. Being a waitress allowed me be more present and helped me develop LOTS of patience.
Anyway, this time I feel it’s gonna stick. Listening to Eckhart Tolle’s voice I’m easily transported to the peaceful place that I so desire. He embodies it.
Another thing that I thought about was yoga. You are forced to be in your body while you try to hold the yoga poses and your chattering mind just disappears. Its lovely. Makes me want to get back into a regular practice because all you can feel the rest of the day is some serious ZEN.
